Description
How It Works
- Electronic Surveillance (EAS): The tag contains a specialized internal mechanism (often metal strips or an electronic circuit) that operates at a specific frequency, typically 58kHz.
- Detection: If the tag passes through a security pedestal (antenna) at a store’s exit without being removed, it interacts with the system’s radio waves/magnetic field, triggering an audible and visual alarm.
- Locking Mechanism: It uses a high-impact plastic housing (ABS) and a secure pin that is held in place by an internal clutch mechanism, such as a three-ball clutch.
- Removal: Authorized personnel use a specialized magnetic detacher at the checkout to release the internal lock and remove the tag safely without damaging the merchandise.
Key Features
- Design: Its “shoe” or “slipper” shape is designed to be ergonomic and difficult for shoplifters to defeat or tamper with manually.
- Durability: Made from durable ABS plastic, it is reusable and designed to withstand significant force.
- Versatility: While shaped for shoes, it is also commonly used for garments, hats, and other soft goods.
