Description
Purpose and Function
- Anti-Theft: This is a “soft tag” used as a shoplifting deterrent. It works with Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS) systems at store exits; if not deactivated at the register, it triggers an alarm.
- Inventory Management: The inner coil (visible through the plastic) is an antenna that allows retailers to track stock, verify authenticity, and manage logistics wirelessly.
What the Instructions Mean
- “Sew here”: This instruction is for the manufacturer. It indicates the specific line where the tag should be stitched into the garment’s seam or a designated “security pocket”.
- “Cut before use / Porter”: This is for the consumer. Once you have purchased the item, you should cut the tag out for comfort. Since it is often made of a stiff or “scratchy” plastic, it is intended to be removed before wearing or washing.
- Scissors Icon: Visually reinforces that the tag is meant to be permanently removed by the customer.
