RF Security AM anti theft custom woven clothing labels

AM label tag DR

Category: Tags: ,

Description

This label is a security and inventory sensor(typically an RFID or EAS tag) that is meant to be removed after purchase. Retailers use these to track stock and prevent theft, but they are generally not designed for the high heat or agitation of laundry cycles.

Why should you remove it?

  • Dye Transfer: Some versions of these tags contain concentrated dyes that can bleed onto the garment or other clothes if they get wet or are exposed to high heat in a dryer.
  • Fabric Damage: Because these tags are often stiffer and sharper than regular fabric labels, they can be uncomfortable against your skin or potentially scratch the garment during a wash cycle.
  • Sensor Protection: The internal electronic components (resonator coils or microchips) are not always waterproof. If they break or corrode during washing, they may eventually leak or leave rust-like marks.

How to remove it safely

The tag is designed to be permanent during its time in the store but easily removable at home.
  • Follow the “Cut Here” Line: Use a sharp pair of scissors to cut along the dashed line indicated by the scissors icon.
  • Extract the Sensor: Once cut, you can usually slide the inner sensor (which often feels like a thin plastic strip or a small hard rectangle) out of the fabric pocket.
  • Check the Seam: If the label is sewn directly into a seam, you can use a seam ripper to carefully unpick the threads holding only that specific tag without damaging the rest of the garment.
Note: If the tag is a “hard” plastic sensor (a thick, bulky device) that the cashier forgot to remove, it is best to take it back to the store with your receipt for professional removal to avoid damaging the fabric or triggering a dye pack.
